Damian has worked as a stone mason for over 30 years. Selecting by hand every rock, chipping, fitting and finally seeing a finished product that would last for hundreds of years.
This process instilled in me that only well designed, hand made products would stand the test of time.
And this would be my standard.
FAQ
Will they scratch - Yes if you slide heavy ,sharp ,sandy objects along them. Unless its made from Diamonds every top will scratch.
Cutting on the concrete will blunt your knife and cut thru the sealer which allows moisture to get below. Always use a cutting board.
- Hand packed concrete gives a rustic look with a soft feel.
Sprayed concrete gives a neater appearance.
All concrete is susceptible to harmless hairline cracks.
They sometimes appear months or years after installation & are a result of seasonal movement of the cabinets & the house itself.
These should be considered part of the aesthetic charm of concrete & not a defect, natural beauty rather than plastic perfection.
the colour
Colour variation can occur just like natural wood or stone. Aesthetic variations of shade,colour or pattern .
Depending on the materials used, casting & curing process.Concrete is a natural raw hand made material.
Humidity,sand,cement can affect the final appearance.
Even if exact colour formulas are repeated to 1/10 of a gram, colours can still vary.
CONCRETE IS NOT A HOMOGENOUS,UNIFORM MATERIAL.
